Sadly, I deleted the verbatim exchange... Here is my re-creation of events:
I came in today, and typically I send an IM to my co-workers in greeting, as we all arrive to work at different times.
This morning, I didn't send it out until about an hour after I arrived. My co-worker, B, send an immediate response via private IM:
B: You are late.
Me: It's still morning. So... valid.
B: But you got here over an hour ago.
Me: And I said "Hi" verbally. Besides, if I had sent it out when I got here, V would not have received the greeting. Again.
B: I expect a verbal, written, and greeting through interpretive dance!
Me: I will work on my dance for tomorrow. Do you want different genres for different days?
B: Genre - no; costume - yes
Me: Oh dear. I was so looking forward to Hip Hop Hump Day....
